People Search API FAQs

What is the People Search API?
The People Search API allows you to search our database of over 193 million professional profiles using a combination of attributes. You can filter by name, job title, company, seniority level, department, country, and other supported criteria to find the people you're looking for.
What is a People Search API used for?
A People Search API is typically used for sales prospecting, recruiting, CRM enrichment, and building contact search features within your own product. It enables sales teams, recruiters, and developers to programmatically discover and retrieve professional profiles based on specific criteria like job title, company, seniority, and country.
What data fields are available for each person?

Search returns person IDs and, where available, names, job titles, seniority, departments, locations, LinkedIn URLs, and work history. Employer details appear within experiences[].company.

Work emails require a separate, optional email lookup (beta). Search results do not include email addresses or phone numbers. See the search documentation for the complete response schema.

What search criteria does the People Search API support?
Filter people by name, job title, seniority, department, and country. You can also target company names and domains, industry, and company size. Person location filters use country codes; company location filters support country, state, and city through companyFilter. Supported exclusion filters let you refine results. How do I find recent joiners or people in new roles?

Use atCurrentCompanyAfter to filter by the recorded join date at a person's current employer. Use atCurrentPositionAfter to filter by the current role's recorded start date, which can include an internal role change.

Supply a UTC timestamp such as 2026-06-01T00:00:00Z. For a recent-period search, calculate the cutoff date in your application. Combine your chosen date filter with company domains, seniority, or department to focus the results. See the date filter documentation for details.

How do I retrieve work emails after searching?

Find professional profiles with People Search, select the people you need, then pass each person's id to GET /people/email (beta). You can supply a domain from their work experience, or omit it to try their current company domains automatically.

Check the response status before using an email: found includes a resolved work email; pending means processing is ongoing; not-found and unavailable return no email. Finding a profile does not guarantee that a work email is available.

The certainty field reports one of four categories: unknown, medium, high, or very-high. Email lookup is optional and priced separately from search.

Is the data GDPR compliant?
Yes. We take data privacy seriously and comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data protection regulations. All data is sourced from publicly available information and processed in accordance with applicable laws. We also provide mechanisms for individuals to request data removal.
How fresh is the people data?
Our data is continuously updated from multiple sources. Job titles, company associations, and contact information are refreshed regularly to ensure you're always working with current data. We also detect job changes and update profiles accordingly.
What are the rate limits for the API?
Rate limits scale with your plan: 60 requests per minute on Starter, 120 on Pro, and 600 on Scale. If your application requires higher throughput, we offer enterprise plans with increased limits. Contact our sales team for details.
How much does the People Search API cost?

People Search costs 2 credits per person returned, with a 2-credit minimum when no results are found. The optional education expansion adds 1 credit per person.

Work email lookup (beta) is billed separately at 10 credits per newly accessed found email. Lookups that return no email do not incur an email lookup charge.
